One of the reasons that we like to visit PVR in December is the celebration of the blessing of Our Lady of Guadalupe.Every night from Dec 1st to Dec 12 people parade to the Cathedral to thank and bless the Virgin. They crowd the streets, coming from all directions singing and bringing flowers and gifts of all kinds. Yesterday, being Sunday, they paraded from morning into night. It is family day and the children are dressed in clothing indicating their indigenous heritage. Food stalls line the sidewalks. Between the masses of people and the these stalls there is little room for a gringa with camera. The night posada will be covered in a later post.
