Mission San Juan Capistrano

In 1775 Father Junipero Serra convinced Spanish Captain Rivera that a new mission was needed
to interrupt the long journey form San Diego to San Gabriel. It is amazing that our country was being founded on the east coast at the same time the Spanish were exploring and settling on the west coast.

On the Road Again! San Diego to LA

Leaving the freeways of San Diego for the Freeways of Los Angeles.

Ralph in the driving seat.
Does he chose navi-bitch or Maggie-bitch to direct the way?

Lots of traffic!

When Maggie takes over driving, she decides that
Blue Teddy and watching the signage proves the best means of navigation.

Seaport Village

Seaport Village is a must for all visitors. All though it could be called a tourist trap, it is a nice place to spend a little vacation time. Lots of shops and restaurants varying from hot dogs to fine seafood dining. Located on the harbor, one can look over to Coronado Island, watch both military ships and leisure boats while enjoying a favorite beverage.

La Jolla

La Jolla is a little coastal town north of San Diego. Old and young spend leisure time there.
The young climb down to the beach and the old set up chairs and look out to sea.

I saw this intriguing plant with black blossoms.
Anybody know the name?

Arctic at Sea World

One of the best exhibits at Sea World is the Arctic experience. We began in an IMAX type theater where the seats moved with the video. A helicopter take you in a flight through bad weather, ice crevasses and down close to polar bares, caribou and other animals of the arctic.

On exiting the theater, one enters a set up of an arctic base camp with all the expected
equipment.

Then of course there are the animals;
the Polar Bear, the Beluga Whale and the Walrus.

San Diego-An eventful day

Fought the freeways again. No place for drivers from GV.

Cost for 2 seniors and 1 Prius=
$69 +$69+$12= You do the math -Yup! It's a lot.

Heading back to the condo we saw fire and smoke. The closer we got the more it seemed directly in back of our condo.

Yes we were turned away. So back to the Mall and finally to a two for one martini place with good lobster sliders.

3 hours later we are home to the sound of fireman off our back patio completing a tough job.
