Two very different Movie Reviews

The first is a Net Flix rental O'Horten. This is a Norwegian film about a recently retired railroad engineer. He is faced with many new and interesting experiences and takes the viewer along with him. I liked this movie and the many interesting characters. Unlike the other film, this is slow paced but very rewarding to the viewer that sticks with it. Not LOL funny but very subtly humorous.
In contrast to the above movie this one is fast paced, with car chases and gun fights. The Town is the latest and best effort by Ben Affleck . This is the story of a gang of bank robbers in Boston. More specifically in Charlestown an area of Boston most known for bank robbers. The personality of Boston and the views of the city act as a character in the movie. This is a film that both Mr. and Mrs. may like. He for the car chases and machine gun fights and she for the romantic interest and a pretty good screen play.
3*** Aa good movie

Az. Ballot Propositions -IMO

Arizona has 10 propositions on the Nov. ballot; Eight to amend the Arizona constitution. Two to repeal decisions already made. #302 will repeal a vote passed by the public to have tobacco taxes go to children in the First Things First Program and put the $$ into general funds. "Hey, No way".
106 will take away the health care policies we worked so hard to secure. "Hey, No way".

Propositions are dangerous in two ways. They are written in such obscure language that it is difficult to ascertain their real intent. And many are funded from big $$ from out of state such as prop #106. If one looks at #106, you can easily see this by their literature on flashy shiny paper, expensive TV ads, the widely spread lawn signs, and fancy out of state cars. This car from Florida has been busy putting up prop 106 signs all around Green Valley. This is funded by big pharmaceutical and insurance companies outside of Arizona.

So far I intend to vote yes on only one proposition -#203 - in favor of medical marijuana. Never tried the stuff. The 60's seemed to fly right by me. However if I need to, I would like to be able to use it to manage pain or symptoms of disease.

My advice. If the proposition isn't clearly explained and understood. Don't vote.
AND before making up your mind; Follow the money.

Left Behind - Hooded Oriole nest.

The Hooded Oriole is s summer visitor to the Santa Cruz Valley, arriving any time after March and leaving before September. Comfortable in neighborhoods they often come to humming bird feeders. Although they will perch anywhere they prefer to nest in fan palms using the palm strands to make their nests. Often the nests are well hidden under the fan palm. This nest was found by a gardener who was going to trim this palm when he found this nest. He left the nest, however it was late and the adults had left for Mexico.

Play with a Cobra

The Rogue Theater of Tucson performed the play Naga Mandala by Girish Karnard. Set in India, this play presents the oral tales narrated by women. The main story is about Rani, taken from her family to the marriage home of her new husband. Here she experiences her husband as two distinct persons. One is a stranger who keeps her locked in his house and appears only once a day for the midday meal. The other is a lover who arrives at night. We learn that the cobra can morph into what ever person he chooses.
At the center of the stage was a beautifully painted Mandala. Thought by many to be a symbol of sacred peace.

Use of hand carved masks worn by the actors identified various characters. Two puppets, one a dog and one the amazing cobra moved the story along.

The music was composed and performed on a variety of unique instruments by Matthew Finstrom.

Interpreted and Directed by Cynthia Meier, this was a 4**** production.

Books & Dogs

Outside of a Dog,
books are man's best friend.

Inside of a dog,
it is too dark to read.

Az.Buddy is sad today

Az Buddy is sad today.
Doesn't understand why the people that benefit the most from a public health policy - medicare, many who have children that benefit from medicare disability or medicaid -want to sponsor prop 106 and repeal the very legislation that the can benefit the people of this state.

Arizona is #2 in poverty. #2 in $'s spent on education. Homicides in Tucson are soaring. Yet this state allows concealed weapons, minimal gun control and has more gun shows than any other state. No questions asked. If the list is good things, Az is at the bottom. If the list is bad things, Az is at the top.

The GOP failed to advance the DREAM act, failed to pass the defense bill because they are more afraid of gays and lesbians that they are Al Qaeda and the Taliban and have unanimously agreed that the sky is NOT and never was BLUE.

Calendars

Calendars galore. Makes me think of Marie Calendars.
Who pays for all these calendars?
Maybe you and I.
Each one more beautiful than the other.
Which do I save? Can't use all eight of them.
Can't even give them away because...
it seems that everyone gets calendars galore.
